Reverb Records have been releasing a monthly digital-only 7” single from the Belfast based artist Basic with both an A and B side for your wonderful consumption. These are initially only available exclusively through Apple’s iTunes at the first of every month. The singles are a sort of a clearout and update straight from the Basic archives, with some magic new material sprinkled about for good measure. Keep an eye out for some special appearances from some featured vocalists. You will likely be surprised at who shows up.

SOMETHING GOOD ON ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

upside downTHE UPSIDEDOWN are releasing a brand new EP on St. Patrick's Day called "Something Good." The 5 song collection will be exclusively available on iTunes and features a trio of tracks from the band’s third full-length – the “Something Good” title track, a fuzzed up and psychedelic remix of “La Paloma” by Dandy Warhols guitarist Peter Holmstrom, and “Spiders,” which has been featured on the CW network’s hit program Nikita. Also included are the previously unreleased live favourite “Eluv” and a funky remix of “Wake Up Drive Through” from the band’s debut album Trust Electricity.  Get it HERE.  The accompanying video is premiering exclusively on CMJ's website. It was inspired by the movies The Warriors and Velvet Goldmine, and features local DJ Gustav, from Portland’s 94.7 FM.

THE UPSIDEDOWN ON LIVE WIRE! RADIO WITH R.E.M.'s PETER BUCK

udHaving just returned from a West Coast tour in support of their new album "The Town With Bad Wiring" the band were joined on stage by none other than Peter Buck of REM and Scott McCaughey of Minus 5 for their Live Wire! variety show this past month. The show was pretty legendary with the band playing both "Wounded Knee" and "La Paloma," the later of which had a pretty fantastic choir backing them up. The interview with the band during the set was pretty funny, with Matt Moore charmingly divulging the "secret" of the band.  You can listen to the Podcast HERE

THE UPSIDEDOWN ON HBO’S TRUE BLOOD

HBO have asked The Upsidedown for the use of their carefully crafted made-for-tv song "Wolf Blood Honey" for their vampirey show True Blood. The band have obliged. The exclusive track is an adaptation of a song from their forthcoming album “The Town With Bad Wiring” coming soon on Reverb Records. You can get the advance song now HERE
